Banning, who is also a historian, combines an artistic look with a documentary approach. He has gained great international recognition for his photo series, which always has a social focus. The museum&#8217;s frequent visitors may remember his exhibition <a href=\"https:\/\/perspektivet.no\/en\/en\/exhibitions\/bureaucratics\/\"><em>Bureaucratics<\/em> <\/a>displayed\/exhibited in 2009.<\/p>\n<p>In <em>Red Utopia<\/em>, Banning meets people and societies that still are advocates of communism. The photographer himself has never voted for a communist party, but he still has a sympathy for the supporters&#8217; desire for radical change and a more idealistic world. This sympathy has resulted in a series of pictures that portrays communism carefully, and not least with Banning&#8217;s unmistakable perspective.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The <a href=\"https:\/\/perspektivet.no\/en\/en\/activities\/exhibition-opening-red-utopia\/\">exhibition opening<\/a> will take place on Saturday 27 April at 14.00<\/strong>. Banning will himself be present and give an introduction to the project, in addition curator Astri Fremmerlid will give an opening speech.<\/p>\n<p>Sunday March 28 at 13.00, the audience can experience an <a href=\"https:\/\/perspektivet.no\/en\/en\/activities\/photograph-talk-with-jan-banning\/\">artist talk with Banning<\/a> in conversation with head of education Camilla Erenius.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Both events have free entry and is open to everyone.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Perspektivet Mueum invites you to an eventful weekend when Dutch photographer Jan Banning comes to Troms\u00f8 to attend the opening of his exhibition Red Utopia.
