Between Street Art and Open-Air Museum

Throughout the summer you can explore the exhibition World Colors in the Open-air Museum Folkeparken on the southern tip of Tromsøya. The works of art are placed by the seaside, around the boathouse, Stornaustet, and The Kvitnes farm. One aim of the project is to portray new voices and traces in the landscape of  Northern Norway. The works of art are made by pupils in a minority-language class in a lower secondary school in Tromsø. The project has been a collaboration between Tromstun School, Perspektivet Museum and Cit-egration (University of Tromsø).

In the course of three hectic weeks in June we have tried to get to know both Street Art, as a form of art, and one another. Guided walks in the city centre, Perspektivet Museum’s exhibitions and conversations have been sources of inspiration for the works of art. The pupils themselves have chosen the title World Colours, and exactly where their artworks are placed in the Open-air museum.

Through the pictures exhibited at the library you will get a glimpse of our work process. World Colors can be visited at the Open-air museum Folkeparken until September 1st, 2018.

This project is supported by Sparebank-stiftelsen DNB and Norges Museumsforbund, Nofi, TrAP and Levende Lokaler (Tromsø kommune).

This exhibition is part of International Week Tromsø 2018.
